Hybrid speech search: exact words and semantic meaning

Speech search in Invenio became more flexible: you can search the transcript for exact words, or search by meaning when you remember the topic but not the phrase.

Exact transcript search

Exact search is useful when you remember the words clearly. If someone said a product name, a quote, a legal phrase, a client name, or a specific technical term, Invenio can help you find the clip where that language appears.

Semantic speech search

Semantic search is useful when memory is fuzzy. You might remember that someone talked about a deadline, pricing, camera settings, a launch plan, or a problem with a shoot, but not the exact words. Invenio can search for the meaning of the spoken content, not only literal word matches.

Why hybrid search helps editors

Real footage is not organized like a document. Interviews, podcasts, webinars, courses, client calls, and YouTube recordings often contain important moments buried inside hours of speech. Hybrid search makes those moments easier to find without manually scrubbing through every clip.

Because Invenio runs locally on Mac, speech indexing and search are designed for private media libraries where uploading footage or transcripts is not acceptable.
