For Apple Silicon Macs. Visual search is free. Speech search requires Pro.
Invenio helps video editors and YouTube creators find B-roll in their own video and photo libraries on Mac. Describe a scene, preview matching footage, and bring the file into your edit.
01
Put the script beside the search box.
A line about the morning commute needs a picture. Try “busy train platform,” then get more specific if the results are too broad. Concrete subjects and actions give you somewhere to start, even when the files are named straight out of the camera.
02
Give an old shoot another job.
That travel film, client project, or weekend shoot may already contain the insert you need. Search the folders you have indexed and preview the matching moments. Check that you have permission to reuse client footage before bringing it into a new project.
03
Choose footage that fits the edit.
Use duration and orientation filters while searching, then check quality before committing to a clip. The duration filter describes the source file, not the length of a matching action inside it. Preview the moment and choose your in and out points in your editor.
Add the local or connected-drive folders you return to most. Let Invenio analyze the media before your next editing session.
Describe the picture
Search for a subject, action, or setting. Preview the results and adjust your wording if the first search is too broad.
Bring the file into the edit
Drag the result into Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or another editor that accepts the file. Set your cut points there.

Before you start
A few practical questions.
Can I search B-roll without adding tags?
Yes. Invenio analyzes visual content during indexing, so you can search by description without manually tagging each clip.
Will Invenio find stock footage online?
No. This workflow searches your own indexed media. You can include downloaded stock files that you are licensed to use.
Does dragging a result automatically make the cut?
This workflow brings the media file into an editor that accepts file drops. Preview the match in Invenio, then trim and assemble the shot in your editor.
Can I filter for a short clip?
Yes, you can filter video results by file duration. A short matching moment inside a long recording still belongs to a long source file.
